Hamilton Women, Raising Our Voices
The Women’s Press is a bi-monthly newspaper published by Immigrant Women’s Centre to create a forum for women in Hamilton – both immigrant and Canadian-born. With content focusing on local issues surrounding gender and social justice, our collection of contributors write on relevant topics including immigration and settlement, employment, poverty, and culture. In the print edition, each article is assigned a LINC level (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) to ensure content is language accessible and for easy use in a classroom setting.
The Women’s Press was launch in 2009, but became a twelve-page independent publication after a generous grant from the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration given to the Immigrant Women’s Centre.
